Ok,

so I was thinking about a classic Isaac Asimov Story. it begins with Earth at a point in history where the planet is dying. In order for Humanity to be saved the people of Earth devise a plan to create Genetic material to plant the seed of Humanity on other worlds.

One of the ships sent out to plant the seeds crashes on a planet that is almost all water. Recognizing that this planet will not support humanity, at least as we know it decides to plant the seed as microscopic beings that live in the water.

after a lot of hoopla they finally decide on a bunch of ponds in the one area of land they have available.

From here the story gets interesting as it jumps to the civilization of humans that live in these ponds.

anyway, can anyone tell me the name of this story? it was great sci fi and I would really like to read it again sometime.

Oh how does it end.

well these humans start by building a land ship (since they live in the water they cannot live outside of the water) they go up the banks and out of the pond, into the next pond where they meet the humans that were planted in that pond. recogizing that there is a much larger Universe than they originally believed...
